Red, From Passionate Love To Violence, Cupid And The Devil

Red is hot. It’s a strong color that conjures up a range of seemingly conflicting emotions from passionate love to violence and warfare. Red is Cupid and the Devil.

Red is power, hence the red power tie for business people and the red carpet for celebrities and VIPs. The red ruby is the traditional fortieth wedding anniversary gift.

These are the power wielders. Power, the ability to move from point A to point B, and get things done is what motivates and drives these people.

They bring great gifts of vision and leadership and generally are responsible, decisive, proactive and assertive.

In some cultures, red denotes purity, joy, and celebration. Red is the color of happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck.

Use the color red to grab attention and to get people to take action. Use red when you don’t want to sink into the background. Use red to suggest speed combined with confidence and perhaps even a dash of danger.

A little bit of red goes a long way. Small doses can often be more effective than large amounts of this strong color. Multiple shades of red and even pink or orange can combine for a cheerful palette.

Using Red with Other Colors: Although not normally considered an ideal coupling, in combination with green, red is a Christmas color, a joyful season.

Cool blues provide contrast and tone down the heat of red. Light pinks and yellows are harmonizing colors that can work well with red if not too close in value such as dark red with a pale or golden yellow.

Be careful using purple. It can be an elegant combination but too much could be overpowering.

Add a dash of red to a soft but sophisticated pink and gray combo. For some countries, including the US, red, white, and blue is a very patriotic trio even if the shades of red and blue differ from those used in the flag.

Reds are hungry for power. Simple stated Reds want their own way. If they have been raised in environments where they were able to manipulate their parents and siblings, they become difficult to manage as they get older.

When they have gotten their way for too long, Reds find it almost impossible to relinquish their power and freedom when they meet authorities in society (teachers, bosses, police, clergy, military officers) who refuse to grant them the total control they demand.

Reds want to be productive. Reds like to work, in school, in their careers and in their relationships. Just do not expect them to attach the same importance to things other people care about, like other people’s schooling, careers and marriages.

But give them a reason to produce, and watch them take off. Reds like to get the job done. They are often workaholics. They will, however, resist being forced to do anything that does not interest them.

Reds want to look good to others. Reds need to appear knowledgable. They crave approval from others for their intelligence and insight. They want to be respected even more than they want to be loved.

They want to be admired for their logical, practical minds. When you deal with a Red, be precise and factual. Reds are unmoved by tears or other displays of “weakness”.

Reds should not be taken too seriously. Reds are often just stating the facts as they see them, despite their antagonistic demeanor.

They seldom say “in my opinion” before stating their opinions. I have seen too many Blues, Whites and Yellows become greatly concerned over issues raised by Reds, only to discover later that the Reds were simply interested in debating. Reds enjoy a good power play.

But once you get emotionally involved arguing issues, you may be disappointed and frustrated to find that a Red is no longer interested.

Reds seek leadership opportunities. Despite the rigidity of the military, many young Red men and women select it as a career in order to experience leadership. Reds are often called “control freaks”.

They like to be in the driver’s seat. Red children are often frustrated in school because teachers (often Blue personalities) won’t let them take charge.

If a Red can get the upper hand, he or she will. Reds are willing to pay any price in order for an opportunity to lead.

Red is the warmest of all colors. Red is the color most chosen by extroverts and one of the top picks of males. On the negative side red can mean temper or anger.

In China, red is the color of prosperity and joy. Brides wear red and front doors are often painted red. Red is Tuesday’s color. Red roses symbolize passionate love.

Ruby rings should be worn on the left hand. Red is the color of Mars. This planet is known as the God of War.

Red is associated with fiery heat and warmth. It can also mean danger (burning).

Red is the color of blood, and as such has strong symbolism as life and vitality. It brings focus to the essence of life and living with emphasis on survival. Red is also the color of passion and lust.

Choose from five colors including four new hues to make your musical fashion statement.

Online Fabric Stores: Fabric Shopping With Trust

Buying fabric online is one of the smartest ways for budget-conscious home decorators to make their home decor dollars go further. But with scores of online fabric stores and little information available to assess them, fabric store shoppers would do well to shop with a few precautions in mind. Here are a few things to look for:

1. Fabric Stores You Can Trust- Look For Buttons
You get to the website and what do you see? Fancy pictures, pretty layout, enticing sales language? These make for a good sales job, not necessarily a good online fabric store. Instead of style, first look for buttons- the security buttons that tell you it’s a website you can trust. Is there a Verisign, an Authorize or a “Secured By Thawte” button clearly displayed on the front page? If the store has one of those, you’ll know that the shopping cart is secure. Does it carry the Hackersafe emblem? Hackersafe is a monitoring service that makes sure your personal data is protected against online theives.

2. Policies
Does that online fabric store want to help you or just help themselves to your money? Look on the front page again. Is the privacy policy clearly stated so that you know your personal information won’t be abused? Many so-called fabric review websites may not even offer reviews of fabric stores, but just lists of advertised links. If they’re soliciting something and want your name or email address, you’ll definitely want to read their policy statements before offering up any information.

3. What’s In a Name
Anyone can sell seconds or knock-off fabrics, stores do it all the time. But only authorized dealers can consistently carry top fabric names like Waverly, Covington and P. Kaufmann. These brands only sell to authorized dealers, and since dealers have to satisfactorilly represent them, those dealers must sell in part on reputation. The bottom line: Avoid fabric stores that traffic primarily in no-name fabrics. You won’t know what you’re getting or what the store really stands for.

4. Watch Your Email
Fabric stores like to stay in touch with their customers and email newsletters are a great way to follow sales and promotions. But as one of the better known fabric websites discovered (and subsequently warned their visitors about), criminals are more than willing to impersonate reputable businesses via email. While online fabric store shoppers are no more vulnerable to online dangers than any other kind of shopper, as a good consumer, you’ll want to keep an eye on what arrives in your email’s in-box.

Online fabric stores are overwhelmingly honest, trustworthy sources for purchasing fabric and fabric-related supplies. But in the world of online commerce, it’s wise to be prepared. Armed with a little extra consumer savvy, you’ll not only make shopping safer, but with more confidence in the process, you’ll enjoy the experience that much more.

Questions Before You Buy Home Office Furniture

There are many considerations to be made when looking for the right home office furniture. Ask yourself a few important questions before you decide which type of home office you want.

1. What kind of people will be frequenting your home office?

2. What is your budget?

3. Should the furniture be suited towards long-term use or short-term use?

4. How much space do you have in the room you are furnishing?

5. Do you prefer modern or traditional style furniture?

The types of home office furniture you purchase will obviously be very different depending on the answers to questions like these. Make sure you have a plan before you begin shopping so that you don’t waste time and money looking for things you don’t need. Let’s go through each question and figure out the perfect home office set for me. Then you can easily follow my example to figure out your own needs.

The answer to question number one is quite simple. The only people that will be frequenting my home office is me and my husband. We don’t have any kids and it will be used mainly for our home computer, printer, and filing of important documents.

The answer to question number two will determine where you may buy your furniture. I’ve set aside about a $2,000 budget for myself. If I do my shopping online I can find great deals on whole sets of home office furniture for this price and possibly even less. Competition on the web causes retailers and wholesalers to compete for your business. This brings the prices down and allows us to save a lot of money over many brick & mortar furniture locations.

Question number three is important because you must take into account the length of time you will use the furniture. It may come with you to future homes. In my case, I will plan on a long-term use of my home office furniture. I must make sure I purchase items of high quality and durability.

Question number four asks how much space is available in the room. Obviously, this is one of the most important pieces of information. This will determine the size and number of pieces you decide to buy for your home office. Personally, I have a medium sized room, about 20′ x 15′ devoted to this project.

The last question is also very important and will decide the final look of your office when it is finished. I have always been more partial to modern furniture with sleek lines and smooth finishes.

Now that I’ve answered some crucial questions I can start my online search for home office furniture with a good idea of what I’m looking for. I will most likely purchase a three piece matched set of modern style home office furniture including a computer desk, credenza, and filing cabinet for under $2,000. I want to make sure the set is durable and long lasting. I also want to make sure the dimensions are correct to fit in my room. Now I just need to start my search. Follow these rules and you can also have the perfect home office at an affordable price. Happy shopping!

Local Carpet Companies Offer Quality and Price

When it comes to your home, there are very few things that are as make-or-break as the flooring that you choose. The color of the walls, the decor, and even the furniture in your home can all be chalked up to individual tastes, but a cheap carpet or a carelessly installed floor can not only become an eyesore in a hurry, but can also significantly devalue your home as it may show signs of wear and tear much earlier.

Installing a quality carpet or flooring that is both high quality and low cost is of the utmost importance for many home owners. Name brand carpeting and flooring, which can ensure the highest quality possible, may be the right option for you, while quality store brand flooring and carpets can alleviate the financial strain of having carpets and floors installed in your home.

A viable option for many home owners is using smaller family-owned carpet and flooring showrooms, as they often offer the best customer service and highest quality flooring and carpet while still generally being able to offer competitive prices.

Using Anaheim as an example: an Anaheim carpet company may sell carpet at $3.50 per square foot and offer excellent customer support and service while a larger national chain, lacking the same level of support and service, may only discount their products by a few cents per square foot making the local Anaheim flooring company a better overall value. Local flooring companies, in Anaheim and beyond, tend to pride themselves on providing quality products and superior service.

Connecting Locally via the Internet

Local companies throughout the world are becoming a stronger presence online as the appeal of the internet for smaller locally owned businesses increases. There are thousands of small, locally owned carpet and flooring companies online who can offer users the opportunity shop online or peruse and compare before making a final decision regarding their carpet purchase.

Searching for “carpet” or “carpet company” and your city name in most search engines will help you find locally owned carpet suppliers who offer wide arrays of carpet and flooring options for your home. Using the Internet to comparison shop can help you find the right carpet at the lowest prices, while using local companies can ensure that you get the best “home town” service and support – it’s the best of both worlds.

Building a new home or renovating your current one can be hectic and expensive, but shopping online for carpets and flooring can significantly decrease your level of stress while increasing your level of satisfaction.

Things To Know When Getting A Fireplace

Not many people are wise about the ins and outs of fireplaces which can seem daunting if you want to get one installed. One of the most important things to know about flueless gas fires is the different types of flues you get. However, once you have done some research it is easy to get the hang of it and you will know which style is best suited to your home.

A balanced flue works through a twin – walled pipe which exits horizontally through an external wall or vertically through the roof. The outer pipe draws air from the outside while the inner pipe pushes out the products of combustion. There are many benefits of this type of flue such as that they are safe to use and have a minimal fuel consumption. Many people think that if they don’t have a chimney they can’t get flueless gas fires but this is not the case as balanced flues can be installed with or without a conventional chimney.

When enquiring about flueless gas fires you may find that you have a powered flue. This is an open fronted gas appliance that has an electronically driven fan system. You will find that it may be either partly recessed or surface mounted on the outside of the wall in order to push out the flue gasses.

If you have a modern home you are more than likely going to have a pre – cast flue. You will be able to distinguish this because you will have either a raised ridge terminal or a metal flue cowl on your roof. Again this is not a problem if you are looking to get flueless gas fires installed because there are many different varieties to suit each type of flue.

You should quickly and easily be able to tell if you have a pre – fabricated flue because there will be a metal flue cowl on your roof. If you are not sure what kind of flue you have or even if you have one at all, there are plenty of professionals out there who will be more than willing to help you.

Something very important to remember with flueless gas fires is that installed gas appliances is not a DIY job. It is very important that you get a professional to do the work for you because if you don’t know what you are doing you may end up creating something that is hazardous to your home and the people living in it.

Why So Many People Get Fireplaces

There are many different reasons why people decide to get flueless gas fires. Some may get them for practical reasons why others may simply be looking for a way of making their home look more unique. The only problem now is that there are so many different styles available that it can feel like it’s impossible to make a decision about which one you should get.

It can be hard to keep your home warm in the cold winter months, especially if you haven’t got double glazing. It can feel like you are fighting a losing battle by turning the heating on as high as it will go but still feeling cold. The money and energy used to try and heat your home is particularly wasted if you spend most of your time in one room. Flueless gas fires can be installed in any room whether it is a bedroom, lounge or dining room so you can stay warm wherever you spend most of your time.

Some people feel like no matter what they do to decorate a particular room it still looks plain and boring. Whereas a re – paint and new furniture can make the world of difference, there is still only so much you can do. If you want a totally different and unique look the flueless gas fires could be a way of achieving this.

Flueless gas fires can be a valuable source of heat in the winter months. There’s nothing more comforting than sitting in front of a nice warm fire and relaxing after a hard day at work. It can be hard to keep a house warm in winter with people walking in and out the house, drafts bringing in cold breezes and windows being left open. This is one of the reasons people like flueless gas fires because they warm the area you are in to a comfortable temperature.

Some people choose to get flueless gas fires purely because of the way they look. You may have no intention whatsoever of using it as a fireplace and just want it to look good. There are many designs that have been created just for this so you don’t have to worry about maintaining something that you aren’t even going to use.

Whatever your requirements or taste in fireplaces you are bound to find a style that suits both you and your home no matter how fussy you are.

What Type Of Fireplace Should I Get?

Unless you know much about flueless gas fires it can be hard to know what kind of fireplace to get if this is something you are considering. It can seem like a daunting process as there are many different varieties available and you may not know which one will suit you and your home the best. Here is some information about each type which should help you to make a decision about which one to get.

One variety of flueless gas fires is hole in the wall fireplaces. These are more suited to modern and contemporary homes and for people who want this to be a main feature of a room but are limited in space. Designs and prices vary greatly so whilst there are many options available it is important to set a budget otherwise you could end up getting carried away.

An advantage of hole in the wall flueless gas fires is that they are positioned on a wall a few feet off the ground. This means that valuable floor space isn’t taken up so you are not limited for room and it doesn’t make the area look any smaller.

Something to consider with hole in the wall flueless gas fires is whether you want it as a primary source of heat or not. This type of fireplace is usually designed with looks in mind rather than how much it is going to warm you house up. If you only require a fireplace as a secondary source of heat then this style is ideal for you because you have another method of heating your home. However, if you are looking to install a fireplace as a primary source of heat then other styles will be better as hole in the wall fireplaces don’t give off a great deal of heat.

Another type of flueless gas fires you can get is a traditional style. Many people favour this look because they feel that it creates a cosy and relaxing atmosphere in their home. This style is better suited to those who have an older home as a modern looking fireplace may look a bit out of place in a new home. As well as this they give off more heat so are more likely to keep you warm.

There are many different ways that you can research flueless gas fires if this is an addition you are looking to make to your home. The internet and speaking to professionals are both great ways of finding the perfect style of fireplace for you and your home.

Requirements Needed For Gas Fires

Not many people know much about flueless gas fires so if this is a feature you want in your home it can be hard to know what to go for. There are many different types so in order to get the one that suits your home the best it is wise to do your research before getting the work done.

The first thing to think about if you are interested in flueless gas fires is if your home currently has a chimney or a flue. This is important because it can determine what type of fireplace you should get for your home.

Conventional chimneys are easy to recognise as they are usually built out of brick or stone and will have a chimney pot or gas terminal on the top. Pre – fabricated flues are harder to recognise because they do not have a chimney stack. However, there will be a metal flue cowl on your roof which will help to determine if this is the feature you have or not.

Many people are surprised to learn that some houses don’t have a chimney or flue at all. This doesn’t mean that these properties can’t have flueless gas fires though; it just means that a balanced or powered flue needs to be installed.

Balanced flues do not require an electricity supply as they operate through a twin – walled pipe which exists through an external wall or the roof. The way it works is that the outer pipe draws air from the outside while the inner pipe pushes out the products of combustion.

A mains electricity supply is needed to operate a powered flue as it uses an extractor unit which is mounted on an outer wall. This vents the combustion gases directly outside so you don’t have to worry about them.

Flueless gas fires can seem like a complicated topic if you do not know much about them. However, once you have done your research you will realise that it is quite simple once you know the ins and outs of them. As well as this companies who specialise in flueless gas fires will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have. Just like with anything it is important to find out as much information as possible and clear up any queries you may have before committing to anything. This is the best way to ensure that you are going to be completely satisfied with the new addition to your home.

Why Get A Fireplace?

Homeowners are always looking for ways to improve their home, add value to it or simply make it look more homely. However, this can be a tough task because it can be hard to find something that everyone agrees on and that is going to look good in your home.

Many people have started to get flueless gas fires because a lounge just doesn’t feel right without a fireplace. It doesn’t matter if you haven’t got a chimney or a flue as one can be installed by the company you are using who sell flueless gas fires.

If you are unsure about the installation of your fireplace or which design to get, the company you are using should be more than happy to advise you and answer any questions. It is wise to do some research before you commit to anything though so you know exactly what is available to you and what your options are.

Flueless gas fires are a good way of heating your home, especially if you mainly stay in one room. For example, if you tend to come home from work and sit in the lounge all night watching television, it can seem pointless paying to heat your whole home when you are only in one room for most of the night. As there is no chimney or flue you don’t have to worry about any heat escaping so you are guaranteed to stay warm on those cod winter nights.

Flueless gas fires can help to add character to a room if you feel that it is a bit plain and needs livening up. There are plenty of designs to choose from including contemporary, hole in the wall and traditional. This means that you don’t have to worry about your fireplace looking out of place and not suiting your home.

You may also find that flueless gas fires can help add value to your home. Although it won’t be a huge amount many people do like a fireplace in a house. This means that people are going to be more likely to want to make an offer as there is a selling point in your home.

Flueless gas fires have become more popular over recent years as more people are becoming aware of them. Before, many people were unaware of the fact that they can have a fireplace even if they don’t have a chimney or flue. Whereas nowadays, thanks to modern technology everyone can have one.
